SWEET 16
In preparing for the 2019-2020 Toastmasters Year, PMIWDC#01 sought to build on their longstanding pattern of success and chose a theme of Sweet 16. That is, they set out to achieve the maximum number of Distinguished Club Program points possible in the final year of the Toastmasters Legacy Program. Earning 10 distinguished club points and the designation of President’s distinguished it is an accomplishment to be proud of. Earning 16 points is off the charts. On April 28th, 2020, shortly after transitioning to online meetings, PMIWDC01 earned its 16 DCP point. The historical club meeting was celebrated by 28 participants with members and guests from all over the world. They included Region 7 advisor Charles Gates, D29 Director Dana Richard, and others. There are 16,600 Toastmasters clubs worldwide, PMIWDC#01 was one of only 4 of them that earned 16 distinguished club points. As it turned out, the club had to rename their theme, Sweet 16 +2 as they earned two additional awards: One for their COVID-19 efforts and another for completing 31 Toastmasters educational awards from the Legacy program and Pathways. District 29 could not be prouder to have a club with such a legacy as PMIWDC01.
DTM Deepak Menon, 2019-2020 Toastmasters International President, commented to PMIWDC#01: “I am delighted to learn of your club’s achievement! Please convey my best wishes to all of the members of the club and specially those who contributed to make this achievement possible. Being one of four clubs in the world to have gained this is all the more spectacular. Your club serves as a role model for clubs around the world! May the club continue achieving more distinctions and provide high quality meeting experience to all members. All the Best!”
PMIWDC#01 has earned the President’s Distinguished Club Program distinction for fourteen consecutive years and has received the District 29 Golden Toaster award in recognition of all seven club officers attending training for thirteen consecutive years. They have seven members who are triple crown recipients. If you want to be part of the premier club culture at PMIWDC#01, they meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 PM. They are currently meeting virtually. Visit https://www.pmiwdctoastmasters.org/
