ELECTIVES FOR JANUARY 16, 2021 ONLINE TLI

❖ PATHWAYS 101

This class will cover Pathways basics, i.e. online assessment, choosing the right path, exploring Base Camp, and working with Base Camp managers via an online demonstration and PowerPoint presentation.

❖ PATHWAYS FOR BASE CAMP MANAGERS
Presented by Cheryl Baker
This online demonstration session is geared to Club Presidents, Vice-President Educations and Secretaries and will cover Base Camp duties, including tracking members’ progress, as well as approving and submitting educational awards.

❖ HOW TO HOST AN ONLINE CONTEST
Presented by Dwight Yamada
Do you want to be the Zoom host or co-host for online contests? This session will cover security settings, configuring breakout rooms, messaging, meeting controls and best practices for hosting a well-coordinated online contest. As a result, your contest coordinators, contestants, contest officials and audience will appreciate your skills and knowledge as the technical director for safe and successful contests. We will also discuss how you can get more involved to gain experience on this much needed skill. To have maximum value from this session, attendees should connect with a computer and have updated the Zoom client.

❖ RESOLVING CONFLICT
Presented by Jyo Pai
Whenever people are working together closely, conflict will occur. Differences in perspective, skill, knowledge levels, goals, communication styles, and expectations all can create conflict. As leaders, if we are to get beyond conflict situations to restore team harmony and arrive at solutions, we must learn the techniques and skills in recognizing, managing and resolving conflicts – Leadership Excellence Series.

❖ COMPETING IN THE INTERNATIONAL SPEECH CONTEST
Presented by Linda Zhou
Have you wanted to compete in the International Speech Contest but were too afraid? Attend this session to have all your questions answered about the International Speech competition from the Area level to the World Championship of Public Speaking.

❖ COMPETING IN THE EVALUATION SPEECH CONTEST
Presented by John Lamme’
Every evaluation should carefully analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the speaker’s presentation. It should also offer specific recommendations for improvement. An evaluator should be sensitive to the feelings and needs of the speaker yet inspire and encourage the speaker in his/her future speaking efforts.

❖ JUDGING A SPEECH CONTEST
Presented by Karen Jacobs
Judging is the same as an evaluation. Right? NO, there is a big difference. Come learn the differences between being a judge and an evaluator. You will also learn about in person judging and online judging.

❖ CHIEF JUDGE / CONTEST MASTER
Presented by Karen Jacobs
Are you ready? Ready to expand your comfort zone and volunteer to be a contest master or chief judge. Contest season is right around the corner and this session will give you information and resources on how to hold a successful contest when you are the contest master or chief judge. Seasoned or new to the roles all are welcome to share their knowledge or have their questions answered.

  1. Hello D29 TLI-Master!

I hold two functional offices in my D27 club, Old Town Toastmasters – VPM and VPPR (and Immediate Past president). I have registered for both VPM and VPPR TLI session on January 16.

As a dual-officer, is it OK if I attend and receive credit for two Core Officer Training sessions, that is VPPR in block 4 (9:30am) and VPM in block 3 and then continue to the “Resolving Conflict” elective in block 3 (11:30am)?

    Cheers!
    Rob
